1950s Baltimore Gas & Electric Dietz No. 100 Railroad Lantern

$45.00

This lantern is in great functional condition, however it has clearly been drawn on either as a hazard marker by BGE workers, or just for fun. This would have been used on railroads by Baltimore Gas & Electric Co in the 1950s-60s. Dietz is the manufacturer, and No. 100 is the model. This model was favored by railroad workers as it had a longer burn time and larger compartment for kerosene. The glass cover is painted red with clear glass at the bottom, as it was intended. The rest is painted yellow, which is also original. It appears the drawing was done in black paint marker and will not lift without damaging the original paint so it is there to stay and we think it adds charm! The mechanism to lift and dampen the glass cover still works well, and the twist cap to refill still twists off well! Seems to be in working order. Please ask for video if you would like to see the cover lift and dampen. This could make great cabin or man cave decor, or even a great Halloween prop! 12” tall
